Underarm Botox
What Is It?
Underarm Botox works by temporarily reducing transmission at the nerve endings that stimulate the sweat glands. With less signal the gland works less and sweating in that area drops noticeably.
The goal here is not aesthetic but everyday comfort. Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is a medical picture with concrete consequences: marks on clothing, avoiding social situations, changing clothes more than once a day. The treatment affects only the area treated; the sweating balance of the rest of the body is unchanged.
How Is It Done?
At examination the severity of the sweating, when it began and how it affects daily life are discussed. Whether it is confined to one area or widespread, and whether an underlying cause is present, are assessed; tests are requested where indicated. Sweating that started recently or affects only one side is investigated separately.
The treatment area is defined and the underarm is divided into evenly spaced points. Small volumes are placed just under the skin with a very fine needle. The procedure averages 15-20 minutes. There are many injection points, but because placement is superficial the discomfort is limited; topical anaesthetic cream can be applied beforehand if preferred. You return to daily life the same day.
Who Is It For?
Suitable for people whose underarm sweating affects their daily life, their choice of clothing or their social comfort. It is often chosen by those who get insufficient benefit from antiperspirant products.
Where sweating began recently, is accompanied by night sweats or affects only one side, assessment of the underlying cause comes first — those pictures may require a different path. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, neuromuscular disease, active infection at the site and known allergy to the toxin all change the planning and are assessed at examination along with current medication.
Process & Recovery
Examination
The severity, onset and daily impact of the sweating are discussed; how widespread it is and whether an underlying cause exists are assessed, with tests where indicated.
Treatment day
The area is divided into evenly spaced points and small volumes are placed just under the skin. It averages 15-20 minutes and you return to daily life the same day.
First 24 hours
Brief tenderness at the points is possible. The rules for this first day are set out in the “Aftercare Notes” section of this page.
Days 2-7
The reduction in sweating begins in this period and settles gradually. Most people describe a clear difference by the end of the first week.
Review and renewal
An assessment is made at the end of the second week and a small top-up is added if needed. Renewal is planned as the effect begins to fade.
Results & Duration
The effect starts within 2-7 days and becomes clear by the end of the first week. Eliminating sweating entirely is not the aim; the aim is to bring it down to a level that does not disrupt daily life.
The effect is not permanent. The range generally reported is 3-6 months and can be longer in some people, as transmission at the nerve endings returns over time. In people who renew regularly the effect is reported to follow a more predictable course.
What Is Not Promised
The treatment affects only the area treated; sweating of the hands, feet or face is a separate subject and is planned separately. It does not disturb the body’s overall sweating balance — the worry of “will I be unable to sweat” is unfounded, as other areas continue to function normally.
It does not remove the cause of excessive sweating; it temporarily reduces the symptom. No particular duration, or the complete cessation of sweating, is promised. Underarm odour is related to sweating but is a separate matter and may not be resolved by this treatment alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my sweating stop completely?
The aim is not to eliminate sweating but to bring it to a level that does not disrupt daily life. Most people describe a clear difference by the end of the first week.
When does it start working?
It starts within 2-7 days and becomes clear by the end of the first week. Assessment is made at the second week.
How long does it last?
The range generally reported is 3-6 months and can be longer in some people. It is renewed as the effect fades.
Will another part of my body sweat more?
No. The treatment affects only the area treated; the sweating balance of other areas is unchanged.
Is it painful?
There are many injection points, but placement is superficial so discomfort is limited. Topical anaesthetic cream can be applied beforehand if preferred.
Can it be used for hands and feet?
Sweating of the hands, feet and face are separate subjects and are planned separately. Which applies to you is discussed at examination.
Will it solve my odour problem?
Odour is related to sweating but is not the same thing; it may not be fully resolved by this treatment alone.
Which situations need separate assessment?
Sweating that began recently, is accompanied by night sweats or affects one side only is investigated for its cause first. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, neuromuscular disease, active infection at the site and allergy to the toxin are discussed at examination.
