Filler Dissolving
What Is It?
Filler dissolving breaks down hyaluronic acid based filler using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. The enzyme cuts the structural chains of the product and speeds up its dissolution in the tissue. Being reversible is the single most important advantage of hyaluronic acid fillers.
The critical distinction is this: the enzyme only dissolves products containing hyaluronic acid. Calcium hydroxyapatite, poly-L-lactic acid and products described as permanent cannot be reversed this way; managing those is a separate heading. That is why we ask which product was used, when, and into which layer.
How Is It Done?
Assessment establishes the source of the complaint: excess volume, asymmetry, product sitting in the wrong layer, or swelling developing around the product? Where possible, the name and date of the previous treatment are requested. Because an allergic response to the enzyme is possible, a test application is carried out where considered necessary.
The enzyme is delivered to the target area with a fine needle in small volumes. The procedure averages 15 minutes. The amount is adjusted to the area and the structure of the filler; proceeding in a controlled way is preferred over dissolving everything in one session, because the enzyme can also affect the tissue’s own hyaluronic acid. A second session is planned if needed.
Who Is It For?
Suitable for people unhappy with a filler they have had, describing excess or asymmetry in the area, or who feel the product is sitting in the wrong place. It comes up often where product reads as visible in thin-skinned areas such as the lips and under-eyes.
Sudden pain, colour change and pallor after filler suggest vascular occlusion and require urgent assessment; in that picture the clinic should be contacted without waiting. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection at the site, known allergy to the enzyme and bleeding disorders all change the planning.

Assessment
The source of the complaint is established and, where possible, the name and date of the previous product requested. If the product is not hyaluronic acid, the plan differs from the outset.
Treatment
The enzyme is delivered to the target area with a fine needle in small volumes. The procedure averages 15 minutes; the amount is kept limited to proceed in a controlled way.
First 48 hours
Swelling, redness and tenderness occur in the area and bruising is possible. Because of the swelling, the result is not judged at this stage.
Week 1
The effect of dissolving usually settles within a week. The area is observed through this period and a second session planned if needed.
Decision on new treatment
If filler is being considered again, the tissue is allowed to recover first; the timing is set at review.

What Is Not Promised

The procedure does not promise to return the area exactly to its pre-treatment state. It does not gather lax skin and does not undo tissue stretching caused by filler. No particular percentage of dissolving, or promise of finishing in one session, is given; the amount of enzyme is deliberately kept controlled.
