Botox (Full Face)

⏱ Duration15 min ✦ Effect3-6 months ↻ Sessions1 session(s)

What Is It?

Botox works by temporarily reducing transmission between nerve and muscle, softening the action of the mimic muscles. When a muscle contracts less, the skin above it looks smoother and lines deepened by repeated expression become less pronounced.

“Full face” refers to planning the upper-face expression zones together: forehead lines, the area between the brows, crow’s feet, the fine lines at the bridge of the nose and, where needed, the nose tip. The zones are treated as one whole rather than one by one, because relaxing one muscle changes how its neighbour works.

How Is It Done?

Treatment begins with muscle analysis. How strongly each muscle contracts during expression is assessed, along with whether the lines remain visible at rest or appear only with movement. Where deep lines persist at rest, it is stated at the outset that Botox alone will be limited.

The injection points are marked and small volumes are placed into the muscle with a very fine needle. Dose is calculated separately for each zone and planned to preserve brow height and eyelid support. The procedure averages 15 minutes and needs no anaesthesia. The rules given for the first three days directly affect the outcome.

Who Is It For?

Suitable for people with lines that appear with expression across the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes, who do not want surgery. It can also be planned preventively, before a line becomes established — there the aim is not to erase an existing line but to slow its deepening.

It is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in people with neuromuscular disease (such as myasthenia gravis), with active infection at the site, or with known allergy to botulinum toxin. Some antibiotics and muscle relaxants can alter the effect, so current medication is reviewed. Planning requires extra care in people with a history of eyelid droop.

Process & Recovery

  1. Muscle analysis

Each expression movement is assessed, the state of the lines at rest is examined, and dose is planned separately for each zone. Baseline photographs are taken.

  2. Treatment day

The skin is cleansed, the points are marked, and injections are placed into the muscle with a fine needle. It averages 15 minutes; no anaesthesia is needed.

  3. First 3 days

The rules for this period are set out in the “Aftercare Notes” section of this page. They all serve one purpose: preventing the product from spreading beyond the intended muscle — spread can relax muscle groups that were not part of the plan.

  4. Days 3-7

The effect begins and settles gradually. Temporary asymmetry between the two sides may be felt during this period; no assessment is made before the process completes.

  5. Week 2 review

Once the effect has settled, a review is carried out. A small top-up dose may be added if needed — this is a normal part of the plan.

Results & Duration

The effect starts within the first three days and settles fully at two weeks. The result is not permanent: nerve transmission returns over time and the effect fades on average within 3-6 months. Duration varies with muscle structure, dose and metabolism.

Some people report a longer-lasting effect when treatment is renewed at regular intervals; equally, not every renewal gives the same duration. When treatment stops, the face gradually returns to its previous pattern of expression — “it gets worse if you stop” is a common misconception.

What Is Not Promised

Botox does not add volume; it does not correct the shadowing and hollowing caused by volume loss. It does not gather lax skin and has no effect on pigmentation or skin quality. Where very deep lines persist at rest, it will not on its own give the expected result.

No particular dose, duration or “complete erasure of lines” is guaranteed. The aim is not to stop expression but to soften it while keeping the face natural; an expressionless face is not the intended result.

Key Benefits

  • Young appearance
  • Softened lines
  • Quick application

“A good Botox result is one you cannot tell was done. Shutting expression down is easy; the difficult part is keeping the expression and softening the line.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Botox painful?

A very fine needle is used and the injected volumes are small. Most people describe a brief stinging sensation; anaesthesia is usually not needed.

When does it start working?

The first effect is noticeable within 3 days and settles fully at two weeks. Assessment is made at the second week.

How long does it last?

On average 3-6 months. Duration varies between individuals according to muscle structure, dose and metabolism.

Will my face look frozen?

The aim is to soften expression, not stop it. Dose is calculated separately for each zone and planned to preserve a natural look.

Will my lines be worse if I stop?

No. When the effect wears off the muscles return to their previous pattern; you return to the state before treatment, not to a worse one.

Why are there rules for the first 3 days?

Massage, bending forward, intense exercise and excessive heat can cause the product to spread beyond the intended muscle. The rules exist to prevent unwanted outcomes.

Can it be combined with filler?

They address different problems and can be used together in one plan: Botox for expression lines, filler for volume loss.

Who is it not suitable for?

It is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in neuromuscular disease, with active infection at the site, or with known allergy to the toxin. Current medication is reviewed at consultation.
