What Is It?
Profhilo is a skin bioremodelling product containing pure hyaluronic acid at high concentration, manufactured without cross-linking agents. That is precisely what separates it from conventional filler: with no cross-linking it does not hold its shape to create volume, but spreads within the layer where it is placed.
Its target is tissue quality rather than shape — it is designed to support the skin’s capacity to hold water and to stimulate collagen and elastin production. It therefore does not produce the “I’ve had filler” look; the expected change is not in volume but in how the skin feels and reflects light.
How Is It Done?
Treatment begins with skin assessment. Whether the real problem is hydration and tissue quality, or volume loss and laxity, is established — because Profhilo addresses only the first. If the problem is mainly volume loss, that is stated at the outset and a different plan is discussed.
Application uses the BAP technique: product is deposited under the skin at five points on each half of the face, chosen as safe with respect to vessels and nerves. Because the product spreads from these depots, many injections are not needed. The point map for the neck is separate. A session averages 15 minutes. The standard protocol is 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart.
Who Is It For?
Suitable for people who describe dullness, loss of hydration, fine surface lines and mild slackness, without pronounced volume loss. It usually comes up from the mid-thirties onwards, and face and neck are often planned together.
It will not meet expectations where skin laxity is advanced or where the main complaint is deep lines and volume loss; filler or another approach is discussed in that case. It is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active infection or inflamed skin lesions at the site, or in bleeding disorders, uncontrolled autoimmune disease and known allergy to hyaluronic acid.
Process & Recovery
Skin assessment
The source of the problem is separated out: tissue quality, volume loss or laxity. Profhilo addresses only tissue quality; if it is not suitable, that is said at the outset. Photographs are taken.
Session 1
The skin is cleansed, the BAP points are marked and product is deposited at five points on each half. The session averages 15 minutes.
First 24 hours
Small blister-like swellings appear at the injection points — this is the expected appearance and usually disappears within 24 hours as the product spreads. Massage, make-up, saunas and intense exercise are not advised the same day.
Week 4 — session 2
The second session is carried out in the same way. The protocol is built on two sessions; a single session counts as an unfinished treatment.
Weeks 6-8
The effect on the tissue becomes clear in this period. Assessment is made about a month after the second session, by photographic comparison.
Results & Duration
The effect arrives gradually rather than immediately. A first difference in hydration and radiance may be felt within days, but the tissue change that is actually being targeted emerges in the weeks after the second session; 6-8 weeks are allowed before assessment.
The effect is not continuous. The range generally reported is 6-12 months and varies with skin structure, age and lifestyle. Repeat treatment is usually planned once or twice a year for the effect to continue.
What Is Not Promised
Profhilo is not filler: it does not add volume, does not reshape areas such as the cheekbones or jawline, and does not fill deep lines. Nor is it a face lift — it does not gather advanced skin laxity. It does not lighten pigmentation and is no substitute for sun protection.
No particular skin appearance or duration is guaranteed. A single session does not count as complete; if the two-session protocol is left unfinished, the expected result will not be obtained. If expectations do not match the skin’s actual problem, the treatment is not recommended.
