Hair Mesotherapy

⏱ Duration15 min ✦ Effect6-12 months ↻ Sessions6-8 session(s)

What Is It?

Hair mesotherapy delivers formulations containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids and growth factors into the scalp with very fine needles. The mixture reaches the layer where the follicle sits directly; that is what separates it from supplements taken by mouth.

Its logic is nourishment and improving the environment: supporting circulation in the scalp and the conditions in which the follicle works. That is where it differs from PRP — PRP works with growth factor signals obtained from the person’s own blood, while in mesotherapy the content comes from outside and is standardised. The two can be alternatives to each other, or used in rotation within the same plan.

How Is It Done?

The type of loss is established first and blood tests are requested where needed; content is not chosen before headings such as iron, thyroid and vitamin D have been assessed. How oily the scalp is, and whether there is dandruff or eczema, also shape the formulation.

The scalp is cleansed before treatment. The formulation is delivered with very fine needles through evenly spaced points, in very small volumes at each point; anaesthesia is generally not needed. A session averages 15 minutes. The plan is usually 6-8 sessions at weekly or fortnightly intervals, followed by maintenance.

Who Is It For?

Suitable for people whose hair is thinning, whose shedding has increased, or whose scalp looks lifeless. It is often chosen as support during seasonal changes and after childbirth. In people who have had a hair transplant it can also be planned to support both transplanted and existing hair.

Where no follicle remains and the area has opened completely, new growth is not expected; there, transplantation is a separate heading. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection, eczema or an open wound on the scalp, bleeding disorders, uncontrolled chronic illness and known allergy to the formulation all change the planning.

Process & Recovery

  1. Assessment

The type of loss and the condition of the scalp are examined and blood tests requested if needed. The formulation and session rhythm are set on that basis.

  2. Session day

The scalp is cleansed; the formulation is delivered through evenly spaced points in very small volumes. The session takes 15 minutes and anaesthesia is generally not needed.

  3. First 24 hours

Mild redness and stinging occur at entry points and settle quickly. Washing is left to the next day; pools, sauna and intense exercise are postponed.

  4. Through the series

Sessions continue at weekly or fortnightly intervals. The first observed change is usually a fall in the number of strands left in the brush and in the shower.

  5. End of series and maintenance

Photographic comparison follows the completed series. Maintenance sessions are planned to hold the gain, with the interval set by the type of loss.

Results & Duration

The first difference is usually a fall in the amount of shedding; the number of strands left in the brush and in the shower drops around the middle of the series. For newly emerging strands to contribute visible density, the hair cycle means months must pass.

Holding the gain depends on maintenance. Where an ongoing cause underlies the loss — genetic predisposition, iron deficiency, thyroid problems — mesotherapy does not remove that cause; it sustains support. When treatment stops, hair returns to its own course.

What Is Not Promised

Hair mesotherapy is not a hair transplant; it does not grow hair where no follicle remains. It does not stop genetic hair loss and does not change the genetic structure of the strand.

No specific density, fixed number of sessions or duration is promised. If the series is left unfinished the expected support is not obtained. The result varies with the type of loss, how early it begins and whether the underlying cause has been addressed.

Key Benefits

  • Less shedding
  • Hair strength
  • Voluminous hair

“Many dismiss hair mesotherapy as a “vitamin shot”. The real difference is not in the content but in using it on the right patient at the right time.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How does hair mesotherapy differ from PRP?

PRP works with growth factor signals from the person’s own blood; in mesotherapy the content is a standardised formulation from outside. They can be alternatives, or used in rotation within the same plan.

How many sessions are needed?

Usually 6-8 sessions at weekly or fortnightly intervals, followed by maintenance. The rhythm varies with the type of loss.

When will I notice a difference?

The first observed change is usually less shedding around the middle of the series. A difference in density takes months.

Is it painful?

It is delivered with very fine needles in very small volumes at each point; the stinging is brief. Anaesthesia is generally not needed.

Can I wash my hair after a session?

Washing is left to the next day. Pools, sauna and intense exercise are not advised on the same day.

Can it be done after a hair transplant?

Yes, to support both transplanted and existing hair. The timing is decided by the doctor according to how healing is progressing.

Are blood tests needed?

Content is not chosen before the cause of shedding is investigated; iron, thyroid and vitamin D are common headings and tests are requested where needed.

Will shedding increase if I stop?

Hair returns to its own course. The treatment does not halt the process, it sustains support — which is why maintenance is planned.
