What Is It?
Fibroblast treatment cultures a person’s own skin cells from a small tissue sample and returns them to the skin. Fibroblasts are the cells that produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid; with age both their number and their production rate fall. The logic is not to add product from outside but to reinforce the cell that does the producing.
The tissue sample is usually taken from behind the ear — the area least exposed to sun and therefore where cells are least weathered. The sample goes to a laboratory, the cells are cultured under controlled conditions over weeks, and the session is scheduled once they are ready. Fibroblast is therefore not a one-day procedure but a process with a calendar.
How Is It Done?
Suitability is assessed first and the necessary tests are requested. A tissue sample of a few millimetres is then taken from behind the ear under local anaesthesia; the site heals on its own and sits behind the hairline.
After the laboratory stage, the cultured cells are injected into the mid layer of the skin in small deposits. Depending on the area, the cheeks, eye area, perioral region and neck can be treated. The session averages 30-45 minutes; usually one or two sessions are planned, the second placed at an interval after the first.
Who Is It For?
Suitable for people with loss of elasticity and increasing fine lines who prefer an approach working with their own cells rather than an externally added product. It comes up more often from the mid thirties. When it is understood from the start that the result arrives slowly and in stages, expectations are set correctly.
It is not enough on its own where there is marked laxity and volume loss. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection, bleeding disorders, uncontrolled autoimmune disease, active oncological treatment and a tendency to keloid scarring all change the planning and are discussed individually. Smoking affects cell viability and the result, so it is one of the subjects discussed throughout.

What Is Not Promised
Fibroblast is not a filler: it does not add volume, does not build a cheekbone or jawline and does not gather lax skin. It does not replace surgical lifting or thread lifting.
It does not deliver a fast result; expecting a visible change in the first weeks is not realistic. Deep expression lines and pigmentation are separate headings requiring separate planning. No particular appearance or duration is guaranteed; the response depends on the person’s own cellular response.
